Jeopardy!

Well, the main objective of the secret mission has been met. Today I (Brandon) honored one of the most sacred traditions of nerd-dom and competed on the popular trivia gameshow "Jeopardy!" Being on Jeopardy was pretty much a dream come true. I will admit, there have been times in my life when I have made plans around watching Jeopardy. I'm not allowed to disclose how anything went, but you can check it out for yourself on May 21, 2008.

How does one come to be on Jeopardy? Well, I went about it the normal way. I took the online test about a year ago and was invited to do an audition last May. I didn't feel like the audition went that great, but it was fun. I never really thought they would call me, but when they did I was tremendously delighted. I got the message one day after school and came very near to hyperventilating when I realized what it was for.

Being on the show has really changed my perspective on things. I almost feel like I've been off the coast of St. Barts, hanging with spider monkeys and dropping acid. Watching the show and playing are totally different things. Things move really quickly and the competition is pretty fierce. Also, as it turns out, Alex Trebek was very likable.

I would like to post some pictures of the event, but cameras were strictly forbidden on the movie lot. I guess, with a little patience, adequate audiovisual documentation will become available for everyone. If you're like me, this is sensational news and you just can't wait to see the outcome. I hope that we'll all be able to contain ourselves. I know that it will be hard.

For now, let's just all rejoice in America--the land of opportunity.

Ninjas

Brandon's birthday was yesterday and now he is a very old man. Unfortunately, we didn't get to much celebrate his oldness yesterday because he had to work until 10:00. We'll get to celebrate this weekend and then continue the celebration as we venture to LA next week. I would tell you what we are doing there except we are not allowed to write about it on the internet. You'll hear the details later, most likely in May. No, we are not going to going to be adopting a child there and no I will not be having any plastic surgery. This trip will, though, undoubtedly be fun and prove even more that my husband is a rock star.

So in honor of Brandon's birthday, I present you with his favorite website. Does it surprise you that it is all about ninjas?

Love you honey bunny. Happy Birthday. xoxox

I'll Eventually Get Around to It

You know you need new windshield wipers when the rubber wiping piece starts to flap around as you drive...I kept saying that I'd eventually get around to changing them, but you know, never did. That drive home last Thursday in the big snow storm was sure fun when I couldn't see a thing. So thank you Brandon for helping me get that situation sorted out.

I am realizing that I am the queen of "I'll Eventually Get Around to It."

For instance, over the Christmas holiday we bought a beautiful framed picture that we would like to hang in our living room. It has now been propped on the floor for a month and a half because neither Brandon nor I have gotten around to it...mainly because of me, I'll admit. I don't want to stress about where to hang it, do we have the right supplies, do we need to move the other items we hung and then where will those go?, etc. So that picture now seems to belong on the floor. And the sad thing is, I'm totally OK with that.

Other examples include the massive pile of clothes I have piled on my desk chair. Some of them need to be dry-cleaned, some just need to be put away, but others I might just wear tomorrow...so I just let that pile build because, you know, I'll eventually get around to cleaning it up. Maybe.

There's also the fact that I still haven't officially changed my name and my car has been needing an oil change for oh, about nine months. We still have mounds of gift cards that we need to spend from our wedding, I haven't yet taken some Christmas presents back that didn't work out...I could probably go on and on but I don't want you to think that I'm a complete slacker. It is just that I keep finding others things that seem more pressing. Like blogging. Writing papers. Watching Planet Earth. You know, the important things.

Am I the only one with this problem?
